Aims and Objectives.

To build sustainable capacity and capability in the youth work sector by:

  • becoming a leading support and advocacy body for youth work – both paid and voluntary

  • ensuring we represent the diversity of youth work in Aotearoa New Zealand

  • promoting the place of youth work as a recognised and unique profession and an essential volunteer practice

  • offering support and a voice for both local/regional youth worker networks and national youth organisations

  • providing advocacy, information, advice, events and support services with youth workers

  • developing partnerships with government agencies, private enterprise, philanthropic entities and other stakeholders for the benefit of youth workers and the youth development sector

  • establishing a national Code of Ethics for youth work and accessible training opportunities for paid and voluntary youth workers

  • undertaking research, networking and development initiatives to further advance the development of youth work
