Youth Work Training Scheme
The National Youth Workers Network Aotearoa have been in discussions about the Youth Work Training Scheme (YWTS) with the Department of Internal Affairs Local Government and Community Division. Initial discussions focused on how the scheme can be better utilised to benefit the Youth Work sector considering the small amount of funding.
To help us continue these discussions we would like feed back from Youth Workers in New Zealand on how the scheme has benefited you in the past and your ideas for improving access to the funding. We would like feed back on the following:
- What region in New Zealand do you work as a Youth Worker?
- Have you ever applied for the YWTS? (if your answer is YES please carry on answering the following questions – if your answer was NO, was it because you have never heard of the scheme or there was no Youth Work training available in your community to attend?)
- How many times have you applied for the YWTS?
- What trainings have you have attended with YWTS support?
- Did you attend a training that was coordinated by a Youth Worker Network/Collective/Trust?
- What do you see as the benefits of the YWTS?
- Do you think the scheme could be better utilised in your region, if yes, what could be done to improve access and effectiveness?
- No you know who makes decisions (and how) on the funding in your region? What is your preference for how the funds are distributed?
