NYWNA goes voluntary
NYWNA
decided at its AGM in November 2009 to terminate its contract with the Ministry
of Youth Development as the funding offer put to NWYNA was only to fund the
development of the National Youth Work Code of Ethics with the condition that
they sign it off and own it. The National Youth Work Code of Ethics is the Youth
Work Sector of Aotearoa New Zealand as it was written by Youth Workers for Youth
Workers.
The
Government should be right behind NYWNA writing the code of ethics and
supporting the development of it and not dictating to the sector what should be
in it. No Government has the right to own a NGO’s code of
ethics.
