Info for Networks
The TOHU project is targetted at experienced youth workers who are already employed in paid and voluntary roles.
Individuals must enrol through a partner youth worker network or organisation.
We are initially seeking to develop partnerships with six networks or organisations, and invite interested groups to review the Partnership Profile and come along to the August Forum to register their interest.
What would it mean for our network or organisation?
You have a group of people who want to work towards the National Diploma in Youth Work. We would do a pre-assessment process with this group that would aim to identify:
- What they already know (and can complete through a Work Based Assessment process).
- What their training needs are.
We will then work with your network to schedule a series of short professional development workshops. The workshops will come to your area, each one will take 2-3 days and be followed up by a cluster group meeting (an hour per week) to support the group through the assessment process. Where there is a group from one organisation, the cluster group meetings can be held on site.
Your group can work through the process at their own pace (we would suggest 3-4 workshops per year to complete the Diploma within two years).
Your network or organisation will be asked to share in the cost of hosting the workshops.
Other members of your network or organisation can attend workshops. People can enrol into the project at any time and begin working towards the Diploma (although we may not be able to do a pre-assessment process straight away for a new person).
We will contract a person within your network or organisation to operate as a youth worker mentor. This person must be approved by you and will work with us to schedule workshops, facilitate cluster groups and collect work from learners after each workshop.
We are able to work with organisations who have specialised training needs to develop extra Elective Modules for their staff. We will find resource people to deliver them, or accredit staff from that organisation to deliver them internally.
Partnership Profile
We are seeking to develop partnerships with youth worker networks and organisations who meet the following criteria:
- Have at least ten people who are ready to enrol in the National Diploma.
- Each person meets the entry requirements for the Diploma and is able to pay the enrolment fee.
- Able to nominate and work with a youth worker mentor who will look after the project and learners in your area.
- Willing to find the resources to host workshops (funding for venue, hospitality and kai).
